The Annual Reformation Festival

Every year, the congregations of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod in the Pittsburgh area gather at 3:00PM on the last Sunday in October to celebrate Reformation Sunday. A guest preacher is featured at this service; we usually host a synod or district president or vice-president or a seminary professor. An offering is taken at this service to support one of our Pittsburgh-area LCMS missions, which is selected every year by the PALM Board of Directors and then ratified at the annual delegate meeting on the third Sunday in September. A reception follows the service. The annual Reformation service is jointly supported by PALM and the Pittsburgh Pastoral Conference.

Our 2017 Reformation 500 preacher is Rev’d. Dr. Harold L. Senkbeil, Executive Director for Spiritual Care of Doxology: The Lutheran Center for Spiritual Care and Counsel. The service will be held on Sunday, October 29 at First Trinity Evangelical-Lutheran Church, 535 N. Neville St in Pittsburgh. A reception sponsored by Concordia Lutheran Ministries will follow. The offering will be collected to support the newest mission at First Trinity, Pittsburgh Lutheran Ministry for the Deaf.

ALSO: a special Reformation 500 family celebration will take place on Saturday, October 27, the day before the Reformation Festival Service, at Redeemer Lutheran School, at the end of Idaho Ave. in Penn Hills. It will begin at 1:00pm, and we will watch the new Luther movie at 6:00pm. There will be music, food, fun and games for everybody!
